Home Buyer's Reports

Home Buyer's Reports

Trees enhance our homes and living spaces immeasurably and in doing so provide many service benefits to us such as shade, noise abatement, visual screening, reduction in particulates, soil stabilisation and so on. In our current period of climate change and pressure on the natural world the importance of trees has never been felt so acutely. But trees near buildings can have negative impacts and it’s important to understand these when considering the decision to buy a home or other property.
This is a style of report that combines aspects of Safety & Condition surveys, Arboricultural Impact Assessments and Subsidence Investigations in order to describe the likely impact of trees on your new home in the short and medium term.

Risk Assessment

Relevant trees receive a ground-based Visual Tree Assessment as described in the Safety &  Condition survey section which includes observations of the impact of the trees on the property and vice versa. The THREATS risk assessment system is employed where appropriate. Where public data sources allow, a preliminary assessment of the potential for tree-related heave and / or subsidence can be made.

An important aspect of homebuyer’s reports is advice on the likely impact of the trees on your home over the next five- or ten- years giving you peace of mind for the future. We may make suggestions for the enhancement of the trees but these are entirely for your information and are only designed to assist you.

Your Report

As with all our surveys, data is captured electronically in the field, greatly speeding up the process leading to production of your report. Reports contain advice relating to statutory tree protection (Tree Preservation Orders, Trees in Conservation Areas and so on) and the impact of other designations that may affect the trees on your property. A summary of any tree management actions that may be necessary is included as standard. All reports are finished to a high professional standard and presented in .pdf format.

We have wide-ranging experience of providing support to homebuyers and have encountered trees in many different scenarios with respect to houses and the built environment. We also understand that the pressures of the home-buying process can lead to very tight timelines and will discuss your requirements with you at the outset.

What our Clients say

It's extremely important to us that our Clients are 100% satisfied with all work that we carry out, here is just some of the feedback that we have collated from our client portfolio...

I’ve worked with Richard on a number of projects over several years encompassing safety surveys, construction planning, subsidence investigation and decay detection. His work is first class and his service always of a very high standard. He is professional and thorough in everything he does. In a recent collaboration, Richard used sonic tomography to correctly identify an unsafe tree next to a school access route. Shortly afterwards I recommended him to a family member seeking planning approval for an extension – we were delighted with the results! I have no hesitation in recommending Richard for any aspect of arboricultural consultancy.
